Do Wipe Away Spills
Quartz and granite countertops are indeed incredibly resistant to stains. However, they aren’t 100% resistant to staining. They are still vulnerable to staining from liquids such as wine, coffee, tea, tomato sauce, juice, etc. Any liquid with an acidic base should not be left sitting on the counter. The best preventative measure is to wipe away any and all spills immediately.
Don’t Apply Too Much Pressure
Kitchen and bathroom countertops are durable and robust, but they can still crack under heavy amounts of pressure. You should avoid placing heavy objects around the edges or joints as they can cause cracking or chipping. You must also avoid standing or sitting on your countertops, as the pressure you apply can also cause cracks on the surface of your countertops.
Do Use the Right Cleaning Agents
Most household cleaners you use will do more harm than good to your kitchen countertops. Avoid using harsh chemicals such as all-purpose cleaners, Windex, bleach, glass cleaners, disinfecting wipes, and natural cleaners such as lemon or vinegar. Instead, you should opt for warm water and mild dishwashing soap to clean your countertops. Using a microfibre cloth is also recommended if you want to avoid leaving watermarks.
Don’t Expose Your Countertops to Heat
Your countertops are resistant to heat, but exposure to excessive amounts of heat can never be good. It is more important to avoid heat on quartz countertops since they contain a significant portion of pigments and resin along with 90% quartz stone. Putting a burning pan on top of the counter can lead to damage as a reaction to the resin. Instead, use hot pads or trivets.
